The story so far....

It's been a long and winding road since I graduated from the Manchester School of Art in 1981. First there was a long spell as a graphic designer. An even longer spell in advertising. And then a move into pastures new with the opening of an outdoor clothing and equipment store. From there, the transition into tourism related retail was a natural progression - and together with the family, I ended up in the Cairngorms National Park. It was here that we launched 'Spindrift' - a quality gift shop and gallery located in the village of Tomintoul.

Since its founding in 2015, Spindrift has gone from strength to strength and is just as popular with locals as it is with visiting tourists. My wife Andrea must take most of the credit for that.

For me however, the lure of the pencil and pad has never been far away. As the saying goes, once a graphic designer, always a graphic designer (well I’m always saying it anyway!). So when I spotted the opportunity to combine my creative aspirations with my other passion, namely pottering around in sheds, 'Off the Wall' was born. The rest wasn't so much ‘history', but an unexpected new chapter in the life of an ageing and self confessed grumpy old man!

I doubt if it will be the last.
