Heron Wall Art
This pine and poplar wooden wall art depicts a beautiful mountain scene in the Scottish Highlands. In the foreground, a heron fishes for her lunch. The musical waters of a highland burn are home to an abundance of small fish. Herons love to fish. So this created the ideal subject for 'Silent Hunter'!
Available on either a black or slate grey baseboard.
'Matilda' was a young rescue heron we found abandoned and in a bad way when we lived on Scotland's West Coast. We nursed her back to health and rehabilitated her to the wild. A few days later, she came back! The lure of fresh sardines from the supermarket was just too much to resist! This is my tribute to her. I hope she has enjoyed a good life!
This was a complex image with a lot going on. Mountains, sky, water and of course, Matilda. Honing the design down to just nine individual pieces of wood was the challenge. As is often the case, the more you can simplify, the better it looks.
The artwork for 'Silent Hunter' began life on a traditional sketch pad. This was then digitally redrawn and all the elements separated using specialist computer software. Each of these elements are then cut from wood using a high powered laser, individually hand stained and reconstructed to form a 3D version of the original 2D design.
The baseboard is made of pine. The 3D image layers are of poplar. All Wall Arts come ready to hang with two D rings mounted on the reverse. I recommend hanging on two screws rather than a cord, as this holds the Wall Art flatter agains the wall.
Please note: All 'Off the Wall' products are entirely hand made. Therefore whilst I make every effort to maintain uniformity, there will inevitably be variations from one item to another (eg exact colour, knotting and grain in the wood etc). That's what makes each wall art unique!
